The Dharana Project began in September 2020, with two groups of adolescent refugee boys currently completing an 8 week psycho-education and yoga course. The Project aims to improve coping and resilience among at risk adolescents. Feedback so far has been positive, with the boys reporting that they feel calmer and are using the methods taught during classes on a daily basis with some success.

Two more groups of adolescent refugee boys will embark on the same course in December, with the program aiming to be completed by February 2021. Unfortunately due to a lower number of girls in the community and cultural norms with a male trainer, we do not have any adolescent girls in the program.

If we see success in this cohort and if the intervention proves promising, we hope to continue this program and share the information with other populations to ensure justice in its distribution.

Unfortunately due to the recent CMCO, the yoga sessions have halted as the safety of the participants and facilitator is of utmost importance. We will continue the sessions when it is safe to do so.
